Call first. The sheriff handles its publication and service records, the issuing clerk controls the case docket, and the regional magistrate handles new criminal process and bail questions. Keep the case paper nearby. A York County warrant records inquiry may involve separate offices. Ask the clerk or sheriff which agency can confirm the specific record before going to a counter. Case numbers and court dates help staff direct a request. A returned search alone may not answer a service question. Keep a note of the next contact.

This Is Not a Government or Law-Enforcement Office. York County Warrant Records cannot verify status, recall process, accept bond, arrange a surrender, set a hearing, or give legal advice. Only the responsible court or law-enforcement office can answer a case-specific question.

Need Official Warrant Information?

Use the office that matches the question. A sheriff record, a court docket, and a magistrate decision are not the same record.

  • Whether the sheriff lists a process: start with the dated “Wanted Persons” PDF on the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office page, then call 757-890-3630 or non-emergency dispatch at 757-890-3621 to ask which office can confirm it.
  • A missed York General District Court date: contact the GDC clerk at 757-890-3450. Records checks are not handled by phone; send a written name-search, disposition, or case-number request by fax to 757-890-3459 or mail to P.O. Box 316, Yorktown, VA 23690.
  • A Circuit, JDR, or felony record: call the Circuit Clerk at 757-890-3350 or the JDR Clerk at 757-890-3470. JDR and juvenile information has access limits; ask what may be disclosed.
  • A new criminal warrant or bail question: York County’s FAQ directs people to the local magistrate at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, 9320 Merrimac Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23185, phone 757-820-3951. Call before going. That location is not the clerk for every case.

The Sheriff’s Office is at 159 Goodwin Neck Road, Yorktown, VA 23692. Public office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. The main phone is 757-890-3630. Civil Process uses separate contacts, including 757-890-4190, and should be contacted only when the paper is civil.

For an existing sheriff record, a request may go by mail, fax, email, in person, or phone. The office lists email to ypso.legal@yorkcounty.gov as preferred. Captain Robert Blinco handles sheriff FOIA; fax is 757-890-3649 and mail is P.O. Box 99, Yorktown, VA 23690. Identify the record, date or location, and report or process number if known. Ask for a cost estimate before the office searches or copies a large file.

The Circuit, GDC, and JDR clerk offices are at 300 Ballard Street, Yorktown, VA 23690. Court offices generally list weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call the specific clerk before visiting. The courthouse and sheriff offices have separate hours and security rules.
